Pelican Light Lift Cases: Lighter Weight Without Compromising Protection
When Pelican engineered the Light Lift Series, the goal was not simply to reduce weight. The objective was to remove unnecessary mass while preserving the performance standards expected of heavy-duty rotationally molded cases.
For industries that depend on rugged packaging, defense, aerospace, utilities, and field operations, lighter weight only matters if protection remains uncompromised. Light Lift was designed and validated with that reality in mind.
What Is the Pelican Light Lift Series?
The Pelican Light Lift Series consists of rotationally molded cases engineered to reduce overall case weight by up to 30 percent compared to traditional heavy-duty roto mold designs. This reduction is achieved through optimized material distribution, refined ribbing structures, and intentional engineering, not by thinning walls indiscriminately.
The result is a case that is easier to handle and transport while still delivering the structural integrity Pelican users expect.

Why Testing Matters More Than Marketing
Weight reduction alone does not make a case better. What matters is how that case performs under real-world conditions.
Pelican-Hardigg subjected Light Lift cases to the same MIL standard testing protocols used for traditional heavy-duty roto mold cases. These tests evaluate impact resistance, structural integrity, and performance under load.
The results show excellent performance comparable to standard heavy-duty roto cases, with one important distinction: stacking height and stacking weight limits differ from traditional designs.
This distinction is intentional and transparent, allowing users to make informed decisions based on application requirements.

Caster and Payload Performance: LW2914-0605
Pelican-Hardigg™ MIL standard testing on Light Lift™ cases shows excellent performance similar to standard heavy-duty roto cases. The primary difference is stacking height and weight ratings compared to traditional cases.

The Pelican-Hardigg™ LW2914-0605 Light Lift™ case configured with edge casters passed direct caster drop tests at 18”, 24”, and 36” with a 150-pound payload. It provides a compelling example of how engineering refinement translates into real-world durability.
MIL Standard Testing: LW2624-0513LW

The LW2624-0513 Light Lift case demonstrates that reduced weight does not equate to reduced protection. During MIL standard testing, the case performed in line with heavy-duty roto mold expectations across impact and durability categories.
For users whose applications do not require maximum stacking height, these cases offer a lighter, more ergonomic solution without sacrificing confidence in transit protection.
Understanding the Tradeoffs Clearly
Pelican does not position Light Lift as a replacement for every heavy-duty roto mold case. Instead, it offers a targeted solution for applications where:
- Cases are frequently handled or repositioned
- Ergonomics and fatigue reduction matter
- Maximum stacking height is not the primary requirement
By clearly defining performance boundaries, Pelican allows engineers and buyers to select the right case for the right job.

A Smarter Evolution of Protection
Light Lift represents an evolution in case design driven by how equipment is actually used today. Through disciplined engineering and rigorous testing, Pelican reduced weight where it mattered, without eroding trust in performance.
For many programs, Light Lift delivers the protection required with handling benefits that compound over time.
If you’re evaluating case options where weight reduction matters but protection cannot be compromised, the Pelican Light Lift Series is worth a closer look. Our team works closely with engineers, buyers, and program managers to determine whether Light Lift is the right fit based on testing requirements, payloads, and real-world use.
